NUMberS...NUMBERS....NUmBeRS....

My life is NUMBERS!!!!

I count...add....figure....subtract all day. Not complaining...I LOVE my job. Everything for me focuses around counting and numbers. I would much rather be counting as in.... DC in the next 3 stitches, SC in the next 2 stitches....get my drift?? I wish I would have bought stock in the post it note company :-)

A short and sweet post. I am done for the day and ready for some relaxation....Amen.

An icy day....

Today in the Ozarks we had freezing rain blow in. I got up and made it to work only to leave after being there an hour. Living in the country is a blessing until the weather turns bad. Because of our hills we have to wait until the county road crew can plow the snow. Or on days like today we have to wait until it melts off so we can go anywhere. Anywhere as in work.....needless to say today was a bonus day off, which doesn't make me sad. I was able to make my laundry soap....warm biscuits from the oven and crochet 10 more hexagons for my afghan. I only have around 30 to 40 more to go!!!

My outdoor flag is frozen solid!!

The icicles on my bottle tree.....

The trees are bent over with all the exta weight.

My pray is that with more rain forcasted we don't lose power!!

When old friends leave us.....

Recently an old friend passed away. Her children now have the task of letting go......

One of items I was fortunate to receive was her whole collection of Workbasket magazine. The issues go back to 1963 through the early 90's. So many of the ads I can remember as a child and young adult. The 25 cent purchase price made me smile....

When looking at the dates I would think....that's the year President Kennedy was shot.......

I graduated high school......

The year my twins were born.....

All kinds of memories drifted by.

There are a lot of knitting and crocheting patterns.......

This yarn is very thick and made of cotton. I would never think of using it.....rather a neat display item..

YABBA DABBA DOOOOOO....

YABBA DABBA DOOOOO !!!!!

Finally because of Linda and Ana of  Lanas de Ana some incentive to MAKE ME use up some of this atrocious yarn that I have been blessed with......That doesn't sound very gracious when this was given to me in good faith. Doing charity work a lot of different yarn comes my way. This will be a challenge to see what all I can do with it. I see a lot of hats and scarves....I up to the challenge to see what all I can put together and make it all compatible, I have more that I didn't photograph :-) I was the 82nd person to join I think....It will be fun to see who comes up with what.

For the love of glass.....

I am a glass and rock nut !! For some reason I am attracted to both. What makes it even better is that the two go together well.

I got the idea when my husband put these rocks. native to Colorado, in one of our flower beds a couple of years ago. I have made stepping stones for quite some time making my own pavers but this gave me a whole different and "funner', avenue.

Then I started poking around in the surrounding woods for rocks with flat surfaces and came up with ones that look like these.......

....but before these I did some mosaic pieces like this.....

one of my many stepping stones looks like this....

Then I went on the magic of bottle trees. The story behind them started a looooooong time ago in the  southern states with slavery. The slaves believed that the pretty colors of the bottles would attract the evil spirits which in turn would get inside the bottles and be forever trapped. Trust me....with as many bottles as I have on this property I have no evil spirits :-)

Here are a couple.....

I haven't done any mosaic pieces of late. I usually only do them in summer. I work in an area of my shop that usually only I go into which is a good thing because if I don't keep it all vacuumed up someone is liable to get a sliver in hand or foot. Believe me when I say that all my pieces contain a piece of me....my blood!! I don't know how many times I have been cut. I aways try to hide that part because my husband does not like me messing with glass. I am good to wear my goggles but gloves are to cumbersome and don't work well.

So....do you want to give it a try?? I encourage you to do so....it is way fun!!
